Biology back-up

Help towards the cost of a biology expedition to Honduras. “I furthered my understanding of biology and took part in the wonderful conservation project involving the locals, helping them to understand the benefits. I enjoyed replanting trees. And lectures furthered my knowledge in both jungle and marine ecology.”

Trade tools

A grant to purchase tools for trade.” It has helped me carry out many jobs in the trade which I would not have been able to carry out without the tools.”

Duke of Edinburgh awards

Funds towards Gold Award for Duke of Edinburgh Awards on Dartmoor, which was achieved. “Personally, I have gained immensely from the DoE, learning trust and unity while working as a team. I recognise my own weaknesses and know to accept assistance. A very beneficial addition to my CV.”

Speech Therapy

A 24-year-old was given funding to help assist in a degree course including speech therapy. They said: “I gained a great learning experience dealing with different cultures and dealing with parents which helped me learn about their needs too.“

Pitch Perfect

A 10-year-old was able to take singing lessons thanks to a grant which went towards the costs. They said: “In my singing exam I got 98%. Singing means the world to me. Thank you for believing in me.”

Beauty School

A 17-year-old was able to purchase equipment and uniform which enabled them to study for level 2 Beauty Therapy and then go on to study for Level 3. They said: “I enjoy it so much.”

Fighting Fit

An eight-year-old was able to take kickboxing lessons thanks to a CYT grant and has taken part in competitions and maintained a great level of stamina and fitness.

Corps of music

Help towards the purchase of a musical instrument. The grantee was accepted into the Corps of Army Music Summer School and going on to do a music degree. “I would like to become a full-time ceremonial musician in the Army after my degree. Many thanks.”

Day care

A 21-year-old completed their degree after funding towards daycare while studying at Cardiff. The grantee said: “I have achieved ABB in my degree. Thank you for making this possible.”

CHEDDAR YOUTH TRUST PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy for Cheddar Youth Trust

Cheddar Youth Trust has the legal responsibility to tell applicants how their personal information will be collected and used. You can find its privacy policy below or contact them to request it.

Introduction

This policy sets out how we collect, process and hold your personal data if you apply for a grant. We are Cheddar Youth Trust, the data controller of your personal data.

Personal data we collect

Cheddar Youth Trust is obliged from May 2018 to register consent to hold data in the Trust records of all applications for a grant which may be awarded or refused. These records are only available to the Trustees and not for general distribution and to abide by grantees’ wishes regarding the holding of this information.

Data obtained from applicants for a grant is used to:

  • Maintain a register of applications.
  • Allow Trustees to consider applications for a grant.
  • Provide Trustees with all relevant information regarding the applicant and to confirm the applicant falls within the Trust’s constitution.
  • Provide contact information in the Trust’s records and any other media sources as required.
  • Allow the Trust to use photographs and the grantee report describing the project to obtain publicity for the benefit of the grantee and the Trust.

The standard information of Name, Address, Postcode and Telephone number together with e-mail address will be stored in the Trust’s records to enable Trustees and officers of the Trust to contact you.

By applying for our grant, you have agreed to the above.

Who do we share your data with?

We only share your personal data with other Trust members in order to discuss and to make the decision about the grant application.

Where we hold and process your personal data and security

Some of your personal data will be held in writing and printing on paper, some will be on a computer and for applications coming through the website, records of all your personal data may be stored or transferred within our secured web server which locates inside European Union (the EU). We shall process your personal data in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the data.

However, you acknowledge that no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take these steps to secure your personal data, we do not promise that your personal data will always remain completely secure.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is transferred (through your browser) from a website to the hard drive of your computer. The cookie identifies your browser but will not let a website know any personal data about you, such as your name and/or address. These files are then used by websites to identify when users revisit that website.

We also use Google Analytics to monitor how the website performs. Google Analytics places several persistent cookies on your computer’s hard drive. These do not collect any personal data. Your rights

You have the right to obtain from us a copy of the personal data that we hold for you, and to require us to correct errors in the personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete. CHEDDAR YOUTH TRUST Incorporating the Sarah Comer Trust (Education) GRANT APPLICATION FORM

Do you need financial support for a project? If so, read below and then complete the form overleaf.

The main objectives of the Trust are:

  • To assist young people in their educational, professional or vocational training. Eg, you may need books or equipment for your course of study or training, or have a special talent which will benefit from additional specialist teaching or coaching.
  • To encourage and assist young people to engage in service to the community or other worthwhile activity in the Cheddar area or in other parts of the UK or overseas. Eg, you may want to work here in Cheddar or away from home and possibly abroad, in assisting those who are old or ill or handicapped or you may want to do such things abroad to help people less fortunate than yourself.
  • To support the development or formation of any club or organisation catering for young people. Eg, You may wish to take some responsibility for getting a club off the ground or help to develop a group activity.
  • To help where real need can be demonstrated. Eg, family finances or a disability may be such that you cannot take up an available opportunity.


APPLICATION FORM GUIDANCE NOTES (See the form)
If you do not understand any of the details above or in the form overleaf, do not be put off; just apply. The Trustees want to see as many applications as possible and can come back to you if they need further information.


1. Applicants must be aged between five and 25 years at the submission closing date.
2. Applicants must have lived in Cheddar Parish for at least 12 months prior to the submission closing date.
3. Applicants are restricted to one application in any 12-month period.
4. Include as many details of your activity or project as you can. This will help the Trustees in their decision.


An Important Requirement: It is a condition of the grant that when you have used the money you will complete the grantee report, describing your project together with some photos. This will enable the Trustees to fully appreciate the results of the grant and with your agreement could be used to obtain publicity to both yours and the Trust’s mutual benefit. When the grant is approved, you will receive an acceptance form which you will complete and return. You will also receive a pro-forma grantee report to fill in on completion of your project. Acceptance of the grant will be taken as your agreement to these terms.
